About us

Research and Technology Center "Nanotechnology" specializes in fundamental and applied research in the field of development and practical implementation of multicomponent coatings for various functional purposes (mono- and multilayer, nanostructured, graded) to improve the performance characteristics of materials, assemblies and machine parts, cutting and shaping tools, as well as in the development of technological processes of applying such coatings and equipment for their implementation. The technologies are based on surface treatment processes, formation of coatings from various elements and chemical compounds under conditions of nonequilibrium low temperature plasma and atomic ion modification. Feature of the developed coating deposition processes is their complexity: different methods of coating deposition (plasma chemical CVD, vacuum plasma PVD (vacuum arc, magnetron), ionic saturation and ionic surface treatment processes) are combined in one technological cycle. Use of gas-phase and plasma chemical methods in combination with other methods of coating deposition and surface modification (ion doping, implantation, vacuum-plasma, diffusion, vacuum-thermal methods, etc.) significantly expands the possibilities of creating fundamentally new materials. Main efforts of Research and Development Center for Nanotechnology are focused on formation of multicomponent nano- and micro-layered coatings as the most promising for achieving required functional properties. Nanolayer nanocomposite coatings contain enormous potential for creating materials with unique electrophysical, magnetic, physical and chemical properties including exceptional hardness, strength, chemical stability, low friction coefficient and good wear resistance due to the possibility of combining various combinations of different materials and variation of layer thickness, which opens new opportunities for creating units and parts for various purposes, working under extreme temperature, exposure to aggressive environments, mechanical stress.
